Kiedis is working to develop a television series for HBO based on Scar Tissue.

On October 14, 2011 it was announced that FX has picked up the rights to produce Scar Tissue and that Entourage producers, Marc Abrams and Mike Bensonwill produce the series. The series is expected to follow the first half of the book during Anthony's pre teen and teenage years and his relationship with his father Blackie.
